It’s easy to recognize San and Nai Tangmongkhonkitchakan’s farm stand from afar; you just need to look for the large, painted strawberry on its exterior.
For San and Nai, their business, Yumm Strawberry Farm, is a continuation of their passion for agriculture. When the couple migrated to America from Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand, they brought their farming knowledge with them, having previously grown crops like taro root, dragon fruit, and durian. In America, their initial focus was to cultivate and grow vibrant, delicious strawberries. Thus, they quickly moved into leasing land, first in Elk Grove and then adding a parcel in West Sacramento, to launch Yumm Strawberry Farm.
Currently, the family sells through farm stands on their properties and offers seasonal u-picks during the summer and fall for customers to pick berries themselves. Across their farm locations, San and Nai cultivate a close-knit community of regular customers who enjoy coming to the farm, spending time on the property, and taking home all the fruit and vegetables they need — along with some extras, like strawberry jam.
Yumm Strawberry Farm operates as a family business: San and Nai’s daughter, Parada, also helps out, often running the farm stand in Elk Grove while Nai, her mom, manages the stand in West Sacramento. San supports the family and farm by focusing on improving the strawberry varieties in service of offering the most delicious berries possible. In addition, San and Nai sell vegetables such as corn, garlic, onions, pumpkins, squash, peppers, snow peas, and beans at their West Sacramento location. In Elk Grove, customers can find apricots, cherries, blueberries, and blackberries alongside vegetables like corn, green onions, and garlic.
San and Nai say they were born to work outside, tending to the land and producing wholesome food. Through Yumm Strawberry Farm, the couple feels empowered to follow that passion every day.

Advising Snapshot: 2024
San, Nai, and Parada started working with Senior Farm Business Advisor Carine Hines in 2024. With Carine’s guidance, the family is learning about the organic certification process; they have always avoided spraying pesticides, and are now using organic fertilizers in order to enhance soil health. Carine has also shared resources and insights around capital access for the business, and helped them take on a new lease in Elk Grove. Once settled onto their new parcels, Carine assisted the family in assessing different markets, and improving their business structure.
With their more recent expansion into West Sacramento, San and Nai are curious about growing their business further, hoping not only to lease more land but also to create a destination where the community can come to gather, pick fruit, and foster deeper connections.
