Guido Frosini’s roots in agriculture can be traced back nearly two centuries, and the extent of his commitment to the regional ecosystem runs just as deep. True Grass Farms sits in the coastal valleys of northwestern Marin county on land that also has ties to Guido’s family history. Through these connections, Guido was called to steward the land.
These days, True Grass Farms has become a gathering place for other values-aligned producers, including Brady Leavitt, Donald Pivec, Emily Fede and Ray Barrett. Recognizing the challenges new food business owners face and the support his own family’s experience afforded him, Guido has offered his land and resources to support their individual operations which in turn enriches the broader agricultural community. It is through the power of the collective that the producers and artisans of True Grass seek to realize a more participatory and localized food economy. The products and experiences they share are intended as a source of connection and healing, fostering a sense of belonging to the people and places that define the region.

Advising Snapshot: 2021
In the midst of the adversity and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, the bonds have only grown among all the producers of True Grass. The isolation brought times of togetherness and the economic turmoil prompted newfound collaboration around finances. KTA director Paige Phinney has continued to remain connected to Guido even beyond the impacts of the pandemic. Serving as a sounding board and community partner, Paige sees her role as being a champion of Guido’s vision to not only cultivate cooperation and biodiversity on the ranch, but also through his leadership in the larger food community.
